Mr. John Lensey Merritt, Jr, age 73, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, following and extended illness. He was born on October 4, 1937, in Broxton GA to the late Lensey and Rebecca Walsh Merritt.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Stevens Merritt, four sons, Darrell [Tammy] Merritt, Don Merritt, Tony [Denise] Merritt and Chris Merritt, all of Douglas, Ga., four sisters, Willadean Rogers, and Myrtle Merritt, Marie Carver, Dr. Carolyn Rollins, three brothers, Rexford Merritt, Stanford Merritt, and Ronald Merritt, ten grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held on Friday, January 28, 2011, in the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home at 2 pm with the interment in the Chatterton Church Cemetery.
Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
