Carolina Rose Petrykowski; longtime resident of Fraser, died peacefully April 2, 2011 surrounded by the love of her family. She was 83 years of age.

Carolina was born in Detroit on July 13, 1927, daughter of the late Frank and Anita Clara. She attended Sterling Heights High School and graduated from Macomb Community College, where she exhibited expertise in political science while receiving the highest grades for her exemplary academic achievements. She also excelled in art and pottery, and was an accomplished artist.
Carolina fell in love with and married Clarence- a handsome WWII soldier. Together, they raised five children in Fraser.

Carolina was a brilliant cook and baker. She also enjoyed volunteering her time to where ever it was needed. Her greatest joy was her family. Carolina was nurturing mother and an adoring grandmother and great grandmother, who lived for each and every moment she got to share in the company of her family. Carolina touched an immeasurable amount of hearts and lives, and the compassion and friendship that she extended to others were a blessing to all who knew her.

Carolina was an avid Keno player and took frequent bus trips to the local Casino's where she was lovingly known as 'Lucky Lina' and also made more than 70 trips to Las Vegas. Nevada. She could be seen almost every Sunday boarding Tom & Connie's Tour bus where the front seat was always reserved for her and headed off to Windsor Ontario to visit Caesar's to play nickel Keno! Not only did she make several trips to almost every Michigan Casino [including Upper and Lower Peninsula's], she also traveled to Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and another of her all time favorites, Biloxi, Mississippi.

Carolina was the beloved and devoted wife of the late Clarence; loving mother of Clarence 'Butch' (Marianne), Carol 'Kelah' Binkowski, Brenda, Kathy (Rick) Kassube and Cindy David;

cherished grandmother of Cheri (Chris), Tony (Stephanie), Rob, Mark, Ricky (Sarah), Angela (Adam), John (Sara), Frank, Ryan (Stacey), Mandy (Dave) and the late Anita;

dearest great grandmother of Kayla, John Paul, Sabrina, Miya, Nicholas, Nina, Lyndsey, Joseph and Addison; and sister of James (Noretta) Clara, Anita (Dick) Lambert , Rosemary Kassab and the late Frank, Fortunato, Bobby, Mary Ann and Johnny. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, neices and nephews.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!
