Carlo A. Ricci, 87, of Vineland passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at home surrounded by his family.
Carlo was born in Newfield on June 3, 1923, to Peter and Sophia Ricci. A lifelong resident of Vineland, he graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Class of 1940, and graduated from Glassboro State College with a degree in education. Carlo also received his master's degree in school administration at Temple University. His career in the Vineland school system spanned 37 years, with Carlo retiring in 1985 as assistant superintendent. A veteran of World War II, Carlo served in the Air Force becoming a first lieutenant with the 487th Fighter Squadron and the 352nd Fighter Group, rising to rank of captain. Carlo was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, and he was loved by all. He enjoyed spending time with his family, writing and was an active member of Sacred Heart Church.
He is survived by Kathe, his beloved wife of 63 years; son, Steven; daughters, Barbara Becker-Carman and husband J.R. and Pamela Laufenberg and husband George; six grandchildren, Michael, Karl, Katelyn, Robert, Jenna and Steven. Carlo also is survived by his brother, Archie and wife Della Ricci; sister-in-law, Margaret Ricci; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his brothers, John and Paul; sister, Nettie and her husband Leo Smith.
A church visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday followed by a funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. Isidore the Farmer Church, 1655 Magnolia Road, Vineland.
Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Vineland.
Arrangements are under the supervision of Rone Funeral Service, 1110 E. Chestnut Ave., Vineland.
