Kathryn was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Swendson of rural Atchison county Kansas. Kathryn attended Lancaster Grade School and Atchison County Community High School, where she had been an honor student. She graduated from Topeka High in 1976. She was wed to Gerald Arthur Adam, Nov. 21, 1975, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Atchison, Ks.

By Kim Wilhelm (SALINA, Kan.)

It's known as the "L'eggs Lady" case to Salina investigators. In April 1993, 35 year-old Kathryn Adam started the morning just like any other. She worked for L'eggs Hosiery Corporation and delivered panty hose to stores around Kansas. Around 4:30 a.m., she stopped at the Kwik Shop at Crawford and Centennial in Salina for a cup of coffee and a newspaper. Security cameras captured her photo as she leaves the store. It would be the last known picture of Adam.

From there, investigators believe Adam went to her storage unit at Magnolia and Centennial. She kept her hosiery supplies there and would load her van for the day's deliveries. That's when authorities say something happened.

Salina police get involved when Adam's 16 year-old daughter reports her missing. When officers go to the storage unit, they find a pool of blood outside and a small amount of blood on the inside. The door to the unit was open but nothing was taken. It looked as if she was in the middle of loading her van with supplies.

Later that day, Adam's van was found in the parking lot of Russell's Restaurant at 649 Westport in Salina. Authorities also find blood in the van and it appeared as if it was driven through a muddy area.

Salina Police Investigator Jeremy Watkins says the suspect is likely someone who knew Adam, her schedule and routine. There was a gate and fence around the storage unit at the time so the person was able to get inside without any problem. Authorities did search areas around Saline County but never could locate Adam's body. Watkins points out that 1993 was a wet year with much flooding which may've made searches more difficult.
Adam was currently going through a divorce. Watkins says they've had suspects in the case and have eliminated some suspects during the investigation.

"I believe there is someone out there that knows something more," said Watkins.
