Death of Mr.John H. Hill

On Thursday afternoon at half past
4 o'clock Mr John H. Hill expired at
The home of his son-in-law Dr.S.C.Metcalf
109 west Superior street.his age was 77
In his last illness he made complete
Arrangements for the funeral,which will
Take place on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock
from home the Dr.Metcalf Rev. W.N. Webbe
will officiating by Mr.Hill's request the
Following friends will act as pall-bearers
Hon.F.W. Randall. Hon.J.B.White Dr.C.S.Smith
H.H.Bassler and Dr.John Seaton Three of these
Gentlmen were with Mr.Hill at his last moments.
The excellent gentleman who has passed away
Came to Fort Wayne in 1835 and began a
Prosperous business in trading with the
Indiains he juiciously invested his profits
In real estate and the increase in values
Made him well-to-do in old age.He was held
In high esteem by all his fellow citizens
And was noted for his politeness and
Honorable dealings.At one time he was deputy
Sheriff at another time a city commissioner
Always discharging in a capable manner the
Duties intrustedto him.he leaves two daughters.

Mr. Hill was born in Plymouth England and settled
patrnil where he spent his early youth.
