Mustered in as Corporal in Company A, 33rd NC Infantry. Present or accounted for until captured at Fredericksburg, Virginia, December 13, 1862. Exchanged on or about December 17, 1862. Present or accounted for until captured at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, on or about July 5, 1863. Confined at Fort Delaware, Delaware, on or about July 9, 1863. Reduced to ranks on October 31, 1863, while a prisoner of war. Released from Fort Delaware on May 3, 1865 after taking the Oath of Allegiance.
