Ellis Carpenter was a son of Garrison Carpenter and Catherine Carpenter of Gaston Co., NC. He was married in about 1916, at age 48, to Nancy E. Mitchem who was age about 45. Nancy was a daughter of Pinkney B. Mitchem and Harriet Mauney Mitchem. They had no children.
