Karen L Schmidt, 43, of Jordan died at her home on Wednesday, Dec 25, 1996.
Mrs. Schmidt was born in Watertown on Nov 3, 1953, the daughter of Harold and Geneva (Hurley) Jensen. She married Michael Schmidt on April 23, 1977, at Hope Lutheran Church in Waconia and they made their home in Jordan. She was employed as head cook for the Jordan Public Schools for nine years and loved fishing, garage sales and watching most high school sports.
Survivors include her husband, Michael; children Michael Schmidt Jr and fiancee Heather Helman of Eden Prairie, Jeremy Schmidt of Jordan, and Nicole Schmidt of Jordan and her special friend David Hillmyer of Sarasota, FL; father-and mother-in-law Alex and Darlene Schmidt of Shakopee; brother Daniel Jensen of Belle Plaine; sister Sandra and husband Paul Schmanski of Elko, NV; family members Loretta Kotenke of Anaheim, CA, and Bonnie and Gabe Yau, Philip and Tessie Schmidt, Diane and Gary Nelson, Darla Kopel and Norbert Schmidt; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Mary Ann Oestreich.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, Dec 28, 1996, at St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jordan with the Rev. Jim Perkl officiating. Interment was at Spirit Hill Cemetery in Jordan. Pallbearers were Henry LaPlant, Phil Schmieg, Tom Barta, Wayne Aanedt, Neil Flynn and Larry Libra.
The Wagner Funeral Home of Jordan was in charge of funeral arrangements.
