Born in Syracuse , he was a graduate of Liverpool High School. He worked for Young & Franklin Inc., Liverpool, for 31 years. For 32 years, he built super-modified race cars, which his son drove at Oswego Speedway. He was a member of the board of directors of the ISMA and of Trinity United Methodist Church, Clay.
Survivors: A daughter, Debra Viviano of Spartanburg, S.C.; a son, Daniel J. of Clay; six grandchildren.
Services: 10 a.m. Monday at Maurer Funeral Home, Moyers Corners. Burial, Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay. Calling hours, 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 3541 Route 31, Baldwinsville.
