The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Richard A. Waldron of the First Christian Church. Burial will be in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery. A memorial has been established with the Lyon County chapter of the American Heart Association and contributions may be directed to the funeral home.
R. Maxine Barnhart was born Aug. 9, 1925, in Neosho Rapids, the daughter of Jason and Grace Elnora Combes Barnhart. She married Luther Clapp on May 27, 1945, in Emporia. Mr. Clapp died Dec. 14, 1971.
Mrs. Clapp is survived by two sons, Dean Clapp of Ellicott City, Md., and Duane Clapp of Texarkana, Tx.; one daughter, Sheila Price of Emporia; six sisters, Mary Rickman of Waverly, Myrtle Baxter of Neosho Rapids, Lena Fish of Salem, Ore., Lois Smith of Houston, Tx., Josephine Postelwaite of Redland, Ore., and Betty Wittry of Hutchison; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, James Clapp, one brother, Charles Barnhart, one grandson and one great-grandson.
Mrs. Clapp was a member of the High Risers Extension Homemakers Unit.
