Funeral services for Meta S. Spettel, 76, 3119 Main Avenue, Sheboygan, who died at her home December 8, of an apparent heart attack, were held Friday at the Nickel-Lippert Funeral Home. The Rev. Gary Clark, pastor of Zion United Church of Christ, officiated and burial was in Rockville.
The former Metta Schilling was born November 20, 1909, in the town of Schleswig, daughter of the late Henry and Sophie Pickruhn Schilling. On January 19, 1929, she married Elmer Spettel at St. Peter United Church of Christ in Kiel. He preceded her in death April 10, 1983. She was employed at J. C. Penney Company as a sales clerk for many years, retiring in 1968. She also was a volunteer worker at Homespun for many years.
She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and a member and treasurer of the Sheboygan Vocational Homemakers Club.
Survivors include three sons, LeRoy, Sheboygan Falls, Gary and Jeffrey both of Sheboygan; six daughters, Marilyn Pentek, Mrs. Howard (LaVerne) Boeldt, Barbara Lalley, Bonnie Butzen, all of Sheboygan, Mrs. Wesley (Audrey) Ross, Janesville and Mrs. Barrett (Becky) Paasch, Cleveland; 23 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, a grandson, four brothers and one sister.
