Private services will be held at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. The family will celebrate his life with friends at their home at 2 p.m. Saturday.
He was born Sept. 11, 1918, in Davenport and lived most of his life in Illinois.
He retired from Ametek after 36 years and then began enjoying the winters in Florida.
He was a bombardier on a Martin Mariner in the U.S. Navy for two years.
He was an ardent golfer, bowler and pick shooter, and more recently enjoyed bingo and card playing.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; four children, Al Sinksen and wife, Laura, Rock Island, Kathryn Francis and her husband Jim, St. Augustine, Susan Sterk and husband Dennis, Waterloo, Iowa, and Nancy Whipple and husband John, East Moline; eight grandchildren, and a great-grandson. He was preceded in death by a son, Arthur Sinksen, who was killed in Vietnam, and sisters, Alice and Alberta.
