Willie Winchester Murphy, was part Cherokee,
born in Cario, Illinois. Her Travels in life started in Illinois , Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, and ended in Houston County, Wheeler Springs Community. She met and married Ed Murphy, in Greenwood, Mississippi
and in 1928, they moved to Texas along with their two small children.
It is believed she may have
Travel along the" Heritage Trail Of Tears".....
Being of indian blood she was a hard worker, she also loved baseball and when she lived in Mississippi she would travel from her home in Mississippi to Ferriday La. to watch a baseball game she would travel in a horse and buggy for miles.
Worked as a cook, at the Wheeler Spring School until it closed in 1959.
