Many Present At Last Rites For Culligan

Funeral services for Frank J. Culligan, who died last Thursday at his home in Emmetsburg, were held Monday morning at 9 o'clock at the Assumption church with the very Rev. W. F. Mason officiating at the requiem high mass. Burial was in St John's cemetery with the Foy funeral home in charge. Serving as pallbearers were Elmer Fredrick, Harvey Kramer, Clarence Lewis, O.T. Nock, Lou Phillips and James Mehan.
Mr Culligan was born at Little Port Iowa, on April 22, 1892, being 52 years old at the time of his death. He lived at Little Port for a number of years coming to Emmetsburg about 28 years ago where he farmed north west of town. In recent years he was employed in town. He is survived by his wife the former Lillian Galleger and five children. They are Mrs Lee Gustin of Dickens, John and Donald of Portland, Ore, Thomas of Dubuque, and Joseph serving with the Army in England. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs Mary Callaghan of Emmetsburg and four brothers, Judd of Manchester, John Huron S.D. Simon of Emmetsburg and Mike of Washington
Quiet and unassuming, Mr Culligan was known as a generous neighbor and a dependable friend. A World War I vetern, he had been in falling health for serval months and had been a patient in the Des Monies Veterns hospital some time ago. However he never lost hope of regaining his health and remanied very cheerful and uncomplaining. A hearth attack was the immediate cause of his death. To his family, sincere sympathy is extended at his loss.
His two boys, Don and John made a hurried trip from Portland Ore, where they are employed to reach their father's bedside, but did not arrive until after his death. All the other children except Joe, were able to be here for the last rites.
