Mr. Tackett died July 24, 2004, in his home. He was 80.
He was born April 28, 1924, in Emmett, Idaho, son of Lewis and Agnes L. Stover Tackett. He graduated from Emmett High School in 1941, then served in the Navy.
He and Joy Moberley married Nov. 22, 1946, in Vancouver, Wash. He worked for several local and state construction companies building streets and highways.
The Tacketts lived in Carlton 16 years before moving to Cottage Grove, where they lived five years. They moved to McMinnville and have lived in the city the past 35 years. He was a life member of the Cottage Grove Elks Lodge, a member of the Catholic Church and enjoyed bowling, fishing and hunting.
His family said he was a loving father, husband and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of McMinnville; four daughters, Julia Mitchum of McMinnville, Joyanne Locke of Eugene, Joanne Allen-Arney of Salt Lake City and Jeanette Foy of Mountain View, Calif.; a son, Jerald Tackett of Portland; a sister, Shirley Thigpin of Medford; a brother, Melvin Wilson of Brentwood, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and a great-granddaughter, Madison Moore.
