daughter of Ephraim Thornton & Alice Waterman. She married Phineas Sherman 12/24/1797 in Johnston.One of the original settlers of Jefferson county. She, her husband, and four children were originally buried in the Trinity churchyard, but that fell into disuse once the Arsenal Street cemetery was put into use in 1830.

The family's remains, their monument, and the small iron fence surrounding them was removed to Brookside cemetery in 1905.
