ISRAEL W. HEIST
Israel W. Heist, aged 72 years, 5 months and 17 days, one of the best known men of this locality, died of apoplexy at his home at this place.
In June 1910, he was stricken with apoplexy and he never fully recovered. He had several attacks later.
He is survived by one brother, Levi of Earlville; a sister, Mrs. Henry Gottshall of Jacksonwald, these children, Charles, Schoenersville; Pierson D.; Alfred Kramer, Harvey K.; Katie and Mrs. Clara Frederick, of this place. There are 20 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral Wednesday, Dec 3 at 9:30 a.m. the Rev. Kline will officiate. Interment will be made in the family plot in the Mertz Church Cemetery, Dryville. Funeral director, Jacob Schofer of Topton is in charge of arrangements.
Deceased was born June 10, 1841 in Rockland Township, about eight miles west of this village, on the farm now owned by A.A. DeLong. He spent his boyhood days by helping his father on the farm.
In 1866 Mr. Heist was married to Miss Sallie Ann Kramer, by Rev. B.E.Kramlich of Kutztown.
Mr. Heist was a member of Christ (Mertz) Church, of Dryville and served the congregation both as deacon and elder.
