Earl Gilmore
Funeral services for Earl C. Gilmore, 86, of Vernon, a retired banker and a longtime Whitney resident, were held Thursday, June 23, with burial in the Whitney Cemetery. He died Tuesday, June 21, in a Vernon Hospital.
Born Dec. 7, 1896 in Whitney, he married to Zolena Overton in 1919. A veteran of World War I and a membre of the First Baptist Church in Whitney, he had lived in Vernon since March.
Survivors include his widow; a son Earl C. Gilmore Jr., of Vernon; a daughter; Rita Fitzgibbon of Laredo; a brother , N.R. Gilmore of Hobbs, N.M.; three sisters, Lydia Herring and Johnnie Herring, both of Lubbock and Beatrice Corley of Las Cruces, N.M.; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
