Children by John and his first wife, Gertrude (nee Taylor), who preceded him in death. She died before the Spanish American War.

Taylor died a few nights before he was to return home from the war. He had just retired after 20 years in the service when he fell in a ditch and broke his back. Possibly at his own going away party.

PERDUE FAMILY REUNION ENJOYED AT YATESVILLE

At the generous invitation and kind welcome of Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Perdue and family of near Yatesville, to their relatives and friends, 75 people assembled to enjoy their kind hospitality and sumptuous dinner served in the shady grove in front of their beautiful country home. These people were gathered together from Florida and adjacent communities in Georgia. The ages of the people present ranged from 6 months to 94 years.
It will always be a pleasant memory of those who had the pleasure of attending and we'll ever cherish the associations and friendships developing that day.
