Daisy Ethel Cox, 93, died in Lakeview on Monday, April 4, 2011.

Daisy Ethel Cox, 93, died at the Lake District Long Term Care on Monday April 4, 2011.

She was born to James and Maude (Lewis) Cox in Meridian, Idaho on Sept. 28, 1917.

Following her first grade in school the family moved to Medford where she attended Lone Pine Elementary School and graduated from Medford High School in 1935.

Daisy had worked for two years cooking in a logging camp before marrying Buck Cox on April 4, 1937. She and Buck worked in logging camps until World War II, when she moved to Bonanza to help run a wood yard. In 1949 she came to Lakeview and worked in the woods to help run the family logging business.

She was the bookkeeper for the MC Ranch for three years and then cooked for the Winnemucca to the Sea road building crew. In 1960 she accepted a position with the ASCS Office in Lakeview and retired in 1980.

Daisy thoroughly enjoyed traveling, writing poetry and all types of crafts. She had a very extensive collection of earrings and music boxes, which she really enjoyed showing off.

She was a member of the Eagles Lodge, Westside Grange, The Red Hatters, Church Of The Open Bible and was a past president of the Business and Professional Women's organization.

She was preceded in death by husband Buck Cox; son Glen Harlen Cox; two brothers; one sister; one great-great-grandchild.

Daisy is survived by son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Alicia Cox of Springfield; daughter Gloria Middlebrooks of Lakeview; sister-in-law Leah Ferrell; grandchildren Fred and Diane Middlebrooks of Chicago, Ill., Dale Icenhower of Redding, Calif., Rick and Teresa Icenhower of Lakeview, Donna Cobian of Snohomish Wash., Mark Middlebrooks of Denver, Colo., Tammy and Mike Smith of Terrebonne, Rodney and Renee Cox of Talent, Kimberly and Darwin Eder of Corum, Mont. and Trina and Matt Cardoza of Battle Mountain, Nev.; 23 great- grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
