DONALD LEE ADKINS, 72, of Proctorville, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday July 7, 2009, surrounded by his family. Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2009, at Lucinda United Baptist Church by Rev. Eddie Salmons. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, Ohio. He was born July 10, 1936, son of the late Emory and Betha Simpkins Adkins. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Allen Adkins and one daughter, Donetta Jo McNeely; two sisters, Sandra and Barbara Adkins and one brother, James Harold Adkins. He was a member of Lucinda United Baptist Church and served as Deacon for 33 years, and retired from Steel of West Virginia. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Vivian Dean Adkins; two devoted daughters, Vada Gaye Paugh (Denver) of Lexington, Ky., and Sandra Lynn Leffingwell (Fred) of Proctorville, Ohio; one sister, Patricia Ann Adkins of Franklin Furnace, Ohio; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends, especially the Dead Beat Club at Owsley's Store. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday July 9, 2009, at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio and one hour before service at the church on Friday.
