John L. Cool, 78, of Glenville died suddenly on Thursday evening, June 9, 2005 at Hanover Hospital. He was the loving husband of Artella M. (Miller) Cool who he had married on April 16, 1955. The couple recently celebrated 50 years of marriage together. The funeral service for Mr. Cool will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, at St. Paul's (Dubs) United Church of Christ, 1958 Dubs Church Road, Hanover with his pastor, the Rev. Anthony Szilagyi officiating. Viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Irwin Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove and from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, prior to the service at Dubs Church. Private burial will be in Dubs Church Cemetery with full military rites by the Allied Veterans Honor Guard of Hanover. Born August 31, 1926 in Heidlersburg, Adams County, John was a son of the late Clarence and Pauline (Miller) Cool. He was a heavy equipment operator and worked in excavating for 30 years. He was employed by Stewart & March for several years and retired in 1989 from Kimbob, Inc., Harrisburg. He enjoyed farming his land and spent much of his time outdoors on his John Deere tractor. John was a faithful member of St. Paul's (Dubs) United Church of Christ in Hanover. Mr. Cool proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Pvt. Allen J. Beck Spring Grove Post #5265 VFW. In addition to his wife Artella, John will be sadly missed by a son, John E. Cool of Hanover; and two daughters, Lisa M. Cool of York and Michelle L. Cool of Hanover; two sisters, Viola Ingram of Hampstead, MD, and Mabel Garrett of Hanover; and two brothers, Edward Cool and Guy Cool both of Hanover. John was preceded in death by a brother, Norman Cool.
