Daniel was a farmer. His father, Richard Post, was born in New York and his mother Martha was born in Connecticut. Richard & Martha had at least 5 children (Daniel, Micah, Roseti, Mary, Elizabeth) and were tavern keepers.

In 1836 "Daniel K and Charity" have several children baptized in First Presbyterian Church in Bablyon, NY. Then Daniel, Charity and 6 children moved to Ohio 1839 from New York State per Charity's obituary.

The Posts are listed in the 1840 (p.77) Census are living in Painesville, Lake Co., OH. Listed then in 1850, 60, 70 & 80 Census data.

The data reveals some interesting details. The 1860 Census Daniel is 56 and owns 600 acre farm in Painesville. Charity and 8 children living with him on farm. Richard (26) and Augustus (26) are still at home.

Then in 1870 only 2 children are at home: "Martha" and "Daniel F" but a 4 year old grand-daughter "Anna Meigs" (daughter of Louise) who would grow up with them is present. By 1880 "Daniel" and "Charity" are both 76. Daughter "Martha" (40) and grand-daughter "Anna" are is still in there home. Daniel is still listed as a "farmer".

Upon his death in 1881 it was reported "Though retiring in his nature, Mr. Post has been a prominent man and leading farmer of Painseville for 43 years. He was highly respected by a large circle of acquaintances."
