Mandi Jocelyn Schwartz (February 3, 1988 – April 3, 2011) was a hockey player for the Yale Bulldogs women's ice hockey until she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in December 2008. Despite trying to find a donor and, in the process, raising awareness of bone marrow and stem cell transplants, Schwartz died on April 3, 2011, following a third relapse of the cancer. She was 23 years old at the time of her death. She was the daughter of Rick and Carol Schwartz. Her brother, Jaden Schwartz, is a Canadian ice hockey player for the Colorado College Tigers. Another brother, Rylan, also plays hockey at Colorado College.

SCHWARTZ, Mandi Jocelyn was born on February 3, 1988 in Yorkton, SK and passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 3, 2011 in Regina. She was predeceased by grandparents William and Emma Schwartz of Runnymede, SK and Paul Wonitowy of Kamsack, SK. Mandi leaves to cherish her memory her parents Rick and Carol Schwartz; brothers Rylan and Jaden of Wilcox, fiance Kaylem Prefontaine of Rockglen; grandma Margaret Wonitowy of Kamsack, great grandma Fannie Slastukin of Kamsack; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. The family wishes to send a special thank you to all those that became part of Mandi's journey and supported her and her family. A Service to Celebrate Mandi's Life will be held at Kenney Hall Gymnasium, Athol Murray College Notre Dame, Wilcox, SK on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to establish the Mandi Schwartz Bursary, c/o Athol Murray College of Notre Dame, P.O.
