He was a son to William Bradley Sr. and Ruby Barnes Burkhart. His mother survives in Harlan. On Nov 21, 1986, he married Edie Sexton, who survives in McGuffey.
He was retired from WHEMCO of Lima after 16 years as a machinist. He was in the Army from 1963 to 1966. He was a member of the Ada Vetrans of Foreign Wars Post 9381 and the Men's Bowling Association of Norada Lanes. Following retirement in 2007, Brad and his wife acquired their GEDs from Apollo Career Center. Brad enjoyed bowling, camping, golfing and fishing. He loved to sit on the deck of his camper and drink coffee with his buddy, Finley. He enjoyed fishing with his brothers-in-law, Gene Sexton and Bill Stephens. He also enjoyed picking on his sister-in-law, Rita Rowe. Brad was loved by many friends and family and by all his special friends at Wild Wings Campground, Lake Erie. He will be greatly missed by all including his beloved dog, Ginger.
Survivors include two sons, Jason (Genelle) Burkhart, of Ada, and Mark (Melissa) Burkhart, of Cincinnati; two daughters, April Woodruff Castle, of McGuffey, and Melissa Lane Taylor, of Old Fort, Tenn.; four brothers, Troy (Venette) Burkhart, of Aurora, Ind., Neal (Carrie) Burkhart, of Harlan County, Ky., Lloyd Ray (Kim) Burkhart, of Harlan County, Ky., and Fred (Shirley) Hamilton, of Lima; five sisters, Faye Daughters, of Burlington, Ky., Judy (Tim) Freeman, Lillie Mae (Alex) Napier, Pam Burkhart and fiance Jerry Owens, and Paula (John) Payne, all of Harlan County, Ky.; and 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Gary Daughters.
Services are at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, with the Rev. Finley Surgner, officiating.
