Laura Loeffler, 89, Keosauqua

KEOSAUQUA ? Laura Evangeline Reddick Loeffler, 89, of Keosauqua, passed away at 12:15 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006, at the Van Buren County Hospital, Keosauqua.

She was born Nov. 24, 1916 north of Keosauqua on what was known as the McSurely farm to Andrew Jackson and Laura Bradley Reddick. She was united in married to Darrell Othel Loeffler June 10, 1933 in Memphis, Mo. He preceded her in death Nov. 24, 2000.

She lived her life in the Mount Zion-Keosauqua community except for 15 years in Missouri where she worked at Hamilton-Brown Shoe Factory and Columbia Laundry and was a foster mother for Columbia Social Services. She moved back to Iowa in 1941, was a dental assistant for Dr. C.R. Perkins for 24 years, was receptionist for Dr. R.A. Perkins and Drs. Handy and Roth and retired in 1983.

Laura was a member of the Keosauqua Congregational Church, Business and Professional Women, Royal Neighbors of America, Red Hat Society, Keosauqua Quilters Club and a 50 year member of the Keosauqua Mothers? Club. She volunteered at the Van Buren Good Samaritan Center where she wrote letters and did mending, was active in Van Buren County Hospice and was treasurer of the Purdom Cemetery Assn. for over 30 years.

Surviving are two daughters, Donna Muir and husband, Gary of Keosauqua and Dixie Carruthers and husband, Darrell of Greensboro, N.C.; a son-in-law, Marion Jemison of St. Charles, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Reddick of Centralia, Mo.; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death in addition to her husband; by her parents; two daughters, Darlene Loeffler Jemison and Diana Loeffler Pech; six brothers, Louis, Vivian ?Babe?, Leslie, Frankie, Howard and Wayne Reddick; a sister, Mae Fiala; a granddaughter, Dixie Lou Thacker; a great-grandson, Sean Murphy; and a son-in-law, Barney Murphy.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2006, in the Keosauqua Congregational Church, Rev. Harold Schnedler officiating. Burial will be in the Purdom Cemetery, Keosauqua.

Visitation will open at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua with family present 7-8 p.m.

Memorials to the Keosauqua Congregational Church may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at P.O. Box 562, Keosauqua, Iowa 52565.
