Turner, George I., Jr. SELKIRK - George I. Turner, Jr., 76, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000 at Albany Memorial Hospital. George was born in Troy, son of the late George and Nellie Turner. He had lived many years in Selkirk and wintered in Florida. George retired in 1981, after 42 years of service with Conrail in Selkirk. He was a World War II Army veteran, a member of Cannon Grange #821 and a former member of the Selkirk Fire Co., No. 1.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine E. Charles Hotaling Turner of Selkirk; four children, George E. Turner and Shirley (Sylvester) Frese, both of Ravena and Susan (Thomas) Trifiletti and Kenneth Turner, both of Albany, two stepchildren, Catherine (Franklin)Stalker of Selkirk and Glenna (Milton) Richardson of Freehold; three sisters, Isabel Roberts of Ravena, Ann Everingham and Alice (Robert) Powers, both of Selkirk; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 Saturday morning, May 27th at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena. Friends may call at he funeral home on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. Interment will be in Chestunut Lawn Cemetery, New Baltimore.
