CHARLES CITY, Iowa - Donald Heeren, 77, of Charles City, died Monday, February 25, 2008, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Memorial services for Donald Heeren will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, at the Trinity United Methodist Church. Pastor Gary Van Wert will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City. There will be a flag presentation by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

The family will greet friends at the church an hour prior to the service.

Donald John Heeren was born July 9, 1930, at Mason City, the son of John and Jurene (Leerhoff) Heeren. He graduated from the Hampton High School in 1948. Donald proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. On January 8, 1953, he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Kline. In 1965 they moved to Charles City where Donald purchased Folkerts Printing. He sold the business and retired in 1997. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and the Lions Club. Donald enjoyed golfing, eating cookies going to morning coffee and living life to the fullest. One of his favorite pastimes was working in the Lions Club rose garden where he spent many hours. He will always be remembered for his friendly and caring manner. Family and friends were also very important to Donald and he enjoyed sharing life with them all.

Living family members include his wife, Mary Ann Heeren of Charles City; a son; two grandchildren; two great grandsons; and a brother, Dale (Cherie) Heeren of Sedalia, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
