US Congressman. He graduated from the St. Charles Military Academy in 1916 and during World War I he served overseas in the United States Army in 128th Field Artillery, 35th Division. After the war, he was admitted to the bar in 1924, commenced to practice law in St. Louis, Missouri and was prosecuting attorney of St. Louis County. In 1937, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-fifth and to the Seventy-sixth Congresses, serving until 1941. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 76.
