Ellis Jewell Hamon, 85 of Harrodsburg, KY formerly of Port Saint Joe, FL, widower of Ann Hightower Hamon, passed away on Sun., April 10, 2011 at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, KY.

Mr. Hamon was born in Berea, KY on Aug. 23, 1925 to the late Ellis and Corsa Combs Hamon. He was a carpenter and a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran.

Survivors include a daughter, Charlotte Floyd of Houston, TX; a sister, Maxine Handziak of Winchester; a brother, Bruce Hamon of Harrodsburg; and a number of nephews and nieces including Debbie Hamon, Jim Hamon, Ron Handziak, Peggy Haas, Don Handziak, Sam Hamon, Steve Hamon, Mary Miller, and Lady Collis.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Samuel Earl Hamon and James Edward Hamon.

Funeral services will be conducted at 6:30 p.m., Wed., April 13 at Scobee Funeral Home by Dr. Ed Mesta. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Wed. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Holly Hill Cemetery in Port St. Joe, FL.
