McBee - Funeral services for Ebbie Noel Hoffman, 94, will be held at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at Middendorf Baptist Church. The Revs. Don Rhyne and Ed Griggs will officiate with burial in the church cemetery directed by Brown Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Middendorf Baptist Church.
Mr. Hoffman, widower of Margaret Elizabeth "Bess" Threatt Hoffman of Pageland, died Monday, May 7, 2007. Born in Middendorf, SC, he was a son of the late Wilford Franklin and Christine Isabell "Tina" Brown Hoffman. He was a member of Middendorf Baptist Church, a graduate of McBee High School in 1930, and received his pharmacy degree from the University of South Carolina in 1933. He was a pharmacist for 69 years working first for Belamy Drug Co. in Wilmington, NC, then as owner of the Medical Arts Pharmacy in Lumberton, NC. During the 1980s he was the recipient of the Lions Foundation Award presented annually by the North Carolina Lions Clubs.
Surviving are his sisters-in-law, Betty Hoffman of Cayce, SC, Louise Hoffman of Patrick, SC, Gertrude Potts of Florence, SC, Julia Lyman of Columbia, SC, Sarah Haynes of Moreland, GA; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ulyses G. Hoffman, Wilford Hoffman, Frank Hoffman, William Hoffman, Shelton Hoffman; sisters, Mary Ammons, Bessie Maynard, Margaret Merritt.
Active pallbearers will be Van Hoffman, Phil Hoffman, Erik Hoffman, Zack Hoffman, Chad Hoffman, Richard Catoe, Robert Defee, and Major Duvall Bullard. The family expresses appreciation to his niece, Sue Khan, and his great niece, Renee Hoffman McDaniel, for the special care and love given.
