Nathaniel Peabody was born in Bradford, Mass. As a young man of 20 he and his brother traveled to Montana where he spent some time working in the mines and exploring the area. His brother settled in Montana and raised his family there. Nathaniel returned to Bradford where he married Mary Evans. They lost two children, Ruth Alma died of an infectious disease, we believe it was diphtheria. Her brother Calvin died a few weeks later of a tragic accident. While visiting relatives and playing with a pea shooter he choked to death on a pea that swelled up in his windpine. Their remaining child, Mina, was my grandmother. She lived to the age of 92.
Nathaniel was a house painter by trade. He enjoyed nature and going out in the woods and duck hunting. He was also fond of poetry. He was remembered as a gentle sensitive man.
