Cecil was born the youngest son of William Tell Butchert (1861-1936) and Effie Copallia Williams (1876-1962). He had 2 brothers and 5 sisters: Claude Curtis 1897-1977, Annie Mae 1900-1966, William (Dock) 1903-1981, Lucy Stella 1906-1991, Easter Vada 1909-1984, Velva Lee 1911-1987, and Mary Etta 1914-1996. Cecil had one child, a son, Clarence Curtis Butchert. Clarence was born August 7, 1938 and passed away June 16, 2010.
Cecil was a man who loved to fish, and loved to preach the Word of God. He would travel frequently to preach in various churches across the state of Texas, and sometimes preached in other states. He was bold in his profession of faith, and preached with fire and conviction. He made his living catching various types of fish, but primarily mullet fish, and would often be heard saying "I'm going mulleting." He was known around Port Aransas, Texas as "the mullet man".
He lived a very simple, humble, and modest life. Cecil lived with only the bare necessities, and sometimes less, but was very content. He often bought clothes to give away to anyone he might come across who was in need, and less fortunate than himself. He lived in anything from a tent, to a tar papered shack once on St. Joe's Island in Texas, and was as content as any man who might live in a mansion. He had a very generous and giving heart, and was always thinking of others before himself. Cecil is a man who truly will never be forgotten by those who knew and loved him.
