Paul and his brothers Bernard and Patrick shipped horses and hay via Santa Fe to Oklahoma. Paul K. was the youngest and was widely known as attorney and legislator. He and Jennie had no children that lived to maturity. Graduating from Christian Brother's College in St. Louis, he taught there for a number of years. He served as State Bank Examiner, Knox County Clerk and Knox County Representative in the Missouri legislature. He was a member of the firm Brown, Gibbons and Brown.

Paul K. Gibbons, 72, Succumbs to Heart Attack In Edina Court House

Edina, Mo., Nov. 5. — State Representative Paul K. Gibbons, 72, died suddenly of a heart attack yesterday morning at 10 30 o'clock in the office of Probate Judge Charles Normile in the court house.
His funeral will be held Thursday morning at 9 o'clock in St. Joseph Catholic church with the Rev Terrence Mullins officiating. Burial will be in the new Catholic cemetery.
Mr. Gibbons was serving his second term as representative having been elected first in 1938 and reelected last year. He had been active in Democratic politics for many years and had held numerous public positions.
Mr. Gibbons was born a mile north of Edina Oct. 25, 1869, the son of Richard and Ellen McKendry Gibbons, and had lived in Edina his entire life. He was married in 1899 to Miss Jennie Moran.
Mr. Gibbons was educated in the public schools of Knox county and attended Christian Brothers college at St. Louis, where he received his A. B. degree in 1892 and his A. M. degree in 1894. The next year he taught English and mathematics in the college and took a post-graduate law course at Washington university in St. Louis.
The public offices he held- included deputy Knox county clerk from 1913 to 1920; attorney and reviewing examiner for the FDIC at Springfield in 1934, mayor of Edina two terms; member of the constitutional convention to repeal the 18th amendment; representative of the state finance commission in liquidation of closed banks in Lewis, Knox and Shelby counties since 1934, and appeals agent for the selective service board of Knox county. He was a member of the local law firm of Brown and Gibbons.
Mr. Gibbons was a member of St. Joseph Catholic church and was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, in which organization he had held several state offices.
Surviving besides his widow is a brother, A. B. Gibbons of Edina. Four children preceded him in death.
