Bernard was a farmer who never married. He and his brothers Patrick and Paul shipped horses and hay via Santa Fe to Oklahoma and at the opening of the Cherokee Strip, were awarded a 160 acre farm. Also had a lumber yard and farm implement business with another brother, John R. Gibbons.

Succumbs After Long Illness; Funeral Tomorrow.

Edina, March 19 (Special) — Bernard R. [sic] Gibbons, who had been in failing health for several years, died at the Gibbons home Tuesday morning. Death was due to a complication of diseases and heart attack.
Mr. Gibbons was the son of Richard and Helen Gibbons, born Feb. 14, 1855. His parents and five brothers have preceded him in death.
He was connected with his brother., the late J. R. Gibbons, in the lumber business for a number of years, but had retired several yean ago.
Funeral service will be held Friday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, conducted by the Rev. Terence Mullin. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery.
Mr. Gibbons was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph's Society.
He is survived by four nieces and three nephews.

Edina, March 22. — Funeral services for Bernard A. Gibbons, 87, were held at 9 o'clock Friday morning in St Joseph church, the Rev. Terrence Mullins officiating. Burial was in the new Catholic cemetery.
Mr. Gibbons was born in Ohio February 14, 1855 a son of Richard and Ellen McKedry [sic] Gibbons and came with his parents, when a very small boy to Knox county. He was never married.
Surviving are the following nieces and nephews; the Rev. James R. Gibbons, S. J., now in British India, Miss Rose Gibbons, St. Louis, Paul J. Gibbons, Louisiana, John P. Gibbons, Kahoka, Mrs. Tom Brown, Edina, Mrs. F. M. Holman, Jr., Hurdland, Mrs. Ed. M. Baker, Kansas City, Mrs. Ray Hughes, Mrs. Tom Lydon, and Miss Mary Gibbons, Sansalito, Ca., Mrs. Ben E. Turner, Berkeley, Calif., Mrs. Peter Sloan and Mrs. S. J. Mooney, San Francisco and Mrs. Andrew Gibbons and Joe Gibbons, Edina.
