Olga Konstantinova Chekhova (nee Knipper) a German actress who went to school in Tsarskoye Selo and later joined the Moscow Arts Theatre Studio.
After the 1917 Russian revolution Chekhova left Russia and moved to Berlin.
Chekhova was a very beautiful woman with captivating looks, she made many silent films...then moved to talkies. During the 1930's she became a popular actress of the Third Reich and was stated as being Adolf Hitler's favourite actress.(Hitler was an avid film goer)
A published photo of Chekhova, sat next to Adolf Hitler was seen by Russian Intelligence, who thought Chekhova had close contact with Adolf Hitler. She did in fact have more contact with Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels.
Chekhova was protected in Germany by both Hitler and Goering - in Russia she was protected by Joseph Stalin and the notorious Lavrenty Beria. This did poise the question, was Chekhova really a spy for Russia..?(Most Probably..but not possible to confirm the value of her espionage work.)
After the Second World War Chekhova moved to Munich,Bavaria, here she launched a cosmetics company(believed to have been financed by Russian Intelligence) continued with her acting career...she played supporting roles and cameos in more than 20 films, later she published her memoires. Her correspondence with Russian actors..Olga Knipper and Alla Tarasova was published posthumously.
Chekhova was awarded the Order Of Lenin by Joseph Stalin.
