BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH:
Catherine Winter, called "Katie" by friends and loved ones, was the daughter of Owen Winter, who was an Irish immigrant who had come to New York sometime prior to 1872 when his daughter was born.
In 1889 Katie married Henry Joseph McMahon in California, probably in San Francisco where they resided for 35 years until her death.
With Henry, Catherine had at least 9 children:
Henry Joseph Jr.
Margaret "Maggie" C.
Catherine Claire (died young)
Loretta Susan
Alice F.
Marie May
Bernice B.
Earl Thomas
There was another child, but I do not have the name at present. Catherine's husband was a deputy sheriff for some time in the early 1900's. He went on to work as a "gauger" of alcohol and was employed by the IRS for at least 10 years.
Descendants of Henry and Catherine are many, mostly populating the western states.
