Frances Hargrove Bowman departed peacefully at her son's home in Las Vegas, Nev. on February 23, 2011. Born March 7, 1925, to the late John and Clarabelle Hargrove. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Bowman Sr., daughter Cornelia B. McKinley, 3 sisters. Mrs. Viola Washington, Ms. Gracie Hargrove and Mrs. Ruby Dean.

Leaving to cherish her loving memories, her beloved son, Eugene Bowman Sr., devoted daughter-in-law LuVenia Henderson Bowman and son-in-law Aussie (Leon) McKinley (Spring), of Tex. The love of her life, her four grandchildren, Macha Bowman (Wyo., Shawntae B. El (Nev.), Schenika M. Harris (Md.), Shawn McKinley (Tex.), 9 great- grandchildren, 1 sister-in-law, Mrs. Joyce Bowman (Washington, D.C. and a loving host of nieces, nephews other family members and close friends.

Frances was a 1944 graduate of Dunbar High School. She retired from the Lynchburg Public School System, where she was employed over 30 years. Frances was a faithful and dedicated member of White Rock Baptist Church for over 60 years. She served as Sunday School Teacher of the Primary Class, Deaconess, and member of the Women's Auxiliary, and sang on the Senior Choir until health failed her. Frances will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at White Rock Baptist Church on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at 2 p.m. the Rev. Ricardo Hailstock will be officiating interment will in the Baptist Cemetery. The cortege will assemble at the church.
