South, Noah M., age 85, died Monday June 14, 2004 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor. He was born August 15, 1918 in Blytheville, AR to Odell and Luvada Farris South.
He married Cleo Moore on Dec 17, 1942 in Alcorn Co., MS and she survives him. He was a disabled American Veteran and was discharged from Ft. Custer, MI in 1941. He worked at the Willow Run bomber plant with his wife during WWII. He worked at Kaiser-Frasier until it closed. He retired in 1980 from Ford Motor Company in Plymouth, MI where he was a quality control inspector.

He was involved with Boy Scouts of America for many years and received one of Scouting's highest awards, the Silver Beaver, in 1963. After retirement he volunteered many hours at the VA hospital in Ann Arbor. He was a 57 year member of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of TN and Ypsilanti Commandery 54 Knights Templar.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann, and a son, Barry DeWayne. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Cleo; a son, Noah M. (Mary Beth) South, Jr; grandsons Eric Bradley South and Noah M. South III and granddaughters Tanya Renee (Luman) Strong and Emily Beth South.

Graveside services followed by burial will be held at Alban Cemetery, Bemis and Tuttle Hill Roads, Ypsilanti, MI at 10am Saturday, June 19, 2004.
