HART - Faye Smith, 82, of Hart passed away Friday, April 15, 2011, at Running Water Draw Care Center in Olton after a long battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. today, April 17, 2011, at First Baptist Church of Hart with the Rev. Matt Baird officiating. Burial will follow in Hart Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home in Dimmitt, Texas. Family visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Colonial Funeral Home.

Faye was born Feb. 14, 1929, to Elsie and Virgil T. Ellis in Peacock. She was married to Harold D. Smith on June 30, 1946, in Wheeler. They resided in Hart since 1954. She was a tough lady. She was an avid bowler for 45 years and won state and national tournaments. She was a member of the 600 Club and a member of First Baptist Church of Hart since 1954.

She is survived by her husband, Harold D. Smith of Hart; two sons, David Smith and his wife, Patricia, of Hart and Danny Smith and his wife, Becky, of Olton; one daughter, Patti Vines and her husband, Randy, of Lubbock; two brothers, Joe Ellis of Lubbock and Earl Ellis of Prague, Okla.; one sister, Dee Sara of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Dennis Smith; two brothers; two sisters; and an aunt, Grace Ritchie.
