At the Lebanon Health Center in Lebanon, OH. He was the son of the late Gurdon Steele Blackwell and Mary Emmick Blackwell.

He was a longtime employee and supervisor at the E.P. Reed Shoe Factory in Rochester, NY, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War I. He was a member of the Resurrection Lutheran Church at Lebanon, OH, and a 32nd degree Mason at the Round Hill Lodge No. 533, F&AM, Endicott, NY, and a member of the Kalurah Temple in Binghamton, NY.

Husband of Ruth Hamp Blackwell.

He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Marcelete & James Elter, Lebanon, OH; brother, Wilbur Blackwell, Stow, MA; sisters, Wanita Waters, Lakeland, FL; sister-in-law, Dorothy Blackwell, Greenwich, CT; two grandchildren, Nathan & Jason Elter; several nieces and nephews.

Interment followed funeral services conducted at the Mosher Funeral Home, Wellsboro, Thursday, March 13, 1985; Rev. S. Wade Stewart presided.
