He was a member of the Melodist Church; a fifty year member of the Masonic Lodge, and a member of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. He is survived by his wife Elaine; one son Jerry Penton of Villisca, and seven grandchildren.
Services were held Sunday, April 1, 1979 from the United Methodist Church in Villisca, Rev. Claire Kerns officiating. Music was by Martin Hentsch, organist, and Mrs. Roger Posten, soloist, selections, “Sweet By and By” and “Peace in the Valley.” Mrs. Helen Still and Mrs. Evelyn Williams was in charge of the register book. Flower bearers were Mrs. Adah Means and Mrs. Edward Weiner. Casket bearers were Tom Focht, Kenneth Gridley, Donald Baker, Wallace Williams, Robert D. Brown, and Roger Posten.
