Waldo Willett Penton, son of Leroy Belt Benton and Effie Willet Penton, was born August 18, 1889 at Villisca, Iowa and passed away March 30, 1979.
On October 1, 1929, he was married to Elzene Gourley. He has always lived in the Villisca area and started farming in 1918 and lived on the farm until 1974 when he and his wife moved to Villisca.
He was a member of the Melodist Church; a fifty year member of the Masonic Lodge, and a member of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
He is survived by his wife Elaine; one son Jerry Penton of Villisca, and seven grandchildren.
Services were held Sunday, April 1, 1979 from the United Methodist Church in Villisca, Rev. Claire Kerns officiating.
Music was by Martin Hentsch, organist, and Mrs. Roger Posten, soloist, selections, “Sweet By and By” and “Peace in the Valley.”
Mrs. Helen Still and Mrs. Evelyn Williams was in charge of the register book. Flower bearers were Mrs. Adah Means and Mrs. Edward Weiner.
Casket bearers were Tom Focht, Kenneth Gridley, Donald Baker, Wallace Williams, Robert D. Brown, and Roger Posten.
Interment was in the Villisca Cemetery. Arrangements were by Wolfe Funeral Home in Villisca.
