V. M. Chambers, 72, of Damascus died very suddenly of cerebral hemorrhage about 10 p.m Saturday at his home
Born in Kensington, Mr. Chambers spent his early lifer there He was a teacher in early life and taught in the schools at Bayard, North Georgetown, Westviile, and Damascus. He was engaged in farming for some time. For a number of years he carried the mail between Garfield and Damascus.
He was member of the Friends church, Damascus, and held the office of elder int he church.
Survivng are three sons, William R., Chicago; Cloyde C., Corinth, NY; Fred J., Alliance; one brother, James, Huntington, Park, CA; and a sister, Mrs. Fred Wood, Whittier CA. His wife, Carrie L. Cleaver Chambers died three years ago. One son and one daughter also precede him in death.
Funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Friends church, Damascus, in charge of the pastor, Rev. Homer Phillips; burial in the Damascus cemetery.
Friends may call at the home, Monday evening.
