Mrs. Warren Hubert Amason Sr., the former Alice Katherine Lanier, age 91, died on Saturday in her home after a prolonged illness. She was the daughter of Fred T. and Ruby Simmons Lanier, both from pioneer families and life-long residents of Bulloch County. A.K., as she was known by everyone who knew her, was a graduate of Wesleyan College and was an active member of the First United Methodist Church where she served in numerous capacities. She was Chairman of the Memorial Committee and of the Council on Ministries, was President of United Methodist Women, served as District Vice President of the UMW, and she was a teacher of the College Sunday School Class and a member and teacher of the Treasure Seekers Sunday School Class for seven years. Her proudest accomplishments were establishing a child-care center in Ft. Monmouth, N.J., having the "First United Methodist Church" marker erected, and heading up the "Monday Morning Workers" - a group os women who worked together to help others. She was also a 1996 Deen Day Smith recipient.

Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Alice Chipman and Eleanor and Dr. Alfred Schneider, all of Statesboro; one son and daughter-in-law, Warren H. and Krista Amason of Arlington, Va.; one sister, Agnes Strange; one sister-in-law, Anne S. Lanier; five grandchildren, Kyle and Clark MacCullough, Jennifer A. Smith and Jessica and Erik Amason; five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Adams and the Rev. Hugh Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Eastside Cemetery.
