John P Clancy, 56, of Dover Township, died Saturday at Community Memorial Hospital, Toms River.
Mr. Clancy had worked for the New Jersey Highway Authority for 20 years and supervised the Barnegat toll plaza for the past five years. He had been a seasonal police officer in Seaside Heights from 1966-1979.
He was an Army veteran and served in Korea.
Mr. Clancy was a life member of the Policeman's Benevolent Association and a member of Toms River Elks Lodge 1875. He was a member and communicant of St. Justin's Roman Catholic Church, Toms River.
Born in Jersey City, he lived most of his life in Dover Township.
He is survived by wife, Dorothy A. Stern; two daughters, Kathleen J and Beverly P, both at home; a brother, David J., Cape May Courthouse, his mother Helen Francis Clancy, Jersey City and several nephews and nieces. His sister, Jane Sullivan, died in March.
