U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Arkansas State College and from the University of Arkansas School of Medicine, as a ophthalmologist in 1939. During World War II, he served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, (1940-46). After the war, he was assistant professor at the Emory University College of Medicine Georgia, (1947-48), a member of the teaching faculty at the University of Arkansas School of Medicine Arkansas, (1948-580 and was a member of the Little Rock Board of Education, (1955-58). In 1959, he was elected as an Independent Democrat as a write-in candidate to the Eighty-sixth Congress and to the next succeeding Congress, serving until 1963. Not a candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of medicine and was state commander of the Arkansas American Legion. He died from heart failure at age 83.
