U.S. Congressman. After graduating from St. Xavier University in Cincinnati, he was clerk in a mercantile store, (1893-1900), then established a career in the clothing industry and was also a professional baseball team executive. In 1937, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-fifth Congress, serving until 1939. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed his previous business interests until his death at age 63.
