Jesse G. Saltzman, 84 of McCurdy Residential Center,
was born April 4, 1901 the sixth of eleven children born to William Henry and Sarah Elizabeth Kincheloe Saltzman, a pioneer Posey County family. He married Amanda Mae McKinney in 1926. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Newburgh, and a member of the American Legion. He was a home builder until he retired in 1963. Surviving are his daughters Sharon Saltzman Kiltz of Indianapolis; and Doris Saltzman Long of Newburgh; brothers Vogel (Vashti) Saltzman of Mt. Vernon; Harold (Myrtle) Saltzman of Visalia, California; Eldon Saltzman of Kokomo, Indiana; sisters Amy (Oscar) Strean of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois; Yettive (John) Hancock of Mt. Vernon; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Amanda Mae, his parents, sisters Beulah Oliver, Ida Biggerstaff, and Mervil Clara Johnson; and his brother Horace.
Services will be at 11:30am Monday at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel, the Rev. Carl Allinger officiating. Intombment in Oak Hill Cemetery, where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.
