Thomas R. Burdick Dies at Belvidere
BELVIDERE, April 8 - Thomas R. Burdick, most of whose long life had been passed in and near Belvidere, died at 9:30 o'clock this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ernest Kern, 960 West Lincoln Avenue, following a brief illiness from pneumonia.
He was born in Green, NY, July 29, 1850 and came here with his parents when three years old. He was married in 1873 to Eliza Tripp who preceded him in death in 1911.
There survive five children, Tressie Reed, of Roscoe; William of Boise, ID; Eli, of Colorado; Mrs. Eva Kerr of Belvidere and Era, of Rockford. He also leaves ten grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. M. Becker, of Los Angeles, CA.
He was a carpenter by trade and followed his vocation for the most part in the north part of the county.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Kerr home, the Rev. Arthur R. Oates officiating and burial will be in Poplar Grove Cemetery.
