US Congressman. Admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1893, he established a practice in Altoona, Pennsylvania, and later served as Blair County District Attorney. He was elected as a Republican to represent first Pennsylvania’s 21st District, then its 23rd District, in the United States House of Representatives, serving five terms from March 4, 1923 to January 3, 1935. He unsuccessfully attempted to be elected to a sixth term, being defeated for the seat by Congressman Don Gingery. After resuming his law practice, he served as a Delegate to the Republican National Convention three times (1936, 1944, 1948). He died in Altoona at age 92 in 1960.
